What's New in Grain 4.1

We've been heads-down building, and today we're shipping a few things we're genuinely excited about. Grain 4.1 brings Custom Views, Grain Rescue, new insight cards, and Tag 4.1.0. Here's what each of them does — and why we built them.

Custom Views: your dashboard, your way

The default Overview is great for getting a quick read on things. But every team is different. A growth marketer cares about acquisition and conversion. A product manager wants engagement and retention. An exec wants the number at the top. One dashboard doesn't serve all of them equally well.

Custom Views lets anyone on your team build a dashboard around the metrics that matter to them. Start from scratch, pick a template, or open the dashboard picker and let Kai — Grain's AI assistant — suggest one for you. When you click the + icon to add a new view, Kai automatically surfaces three dashboard options tailored to different goals and roles, so you're never staring at a blank slate.

Once built, your view is shared with everyone in your workspace. No more "can you send me a screenshot of that chart."

Grain Rescue: recover sessions before they're gone

Most analytics tools are great at telling you that users left. Grain Rescue is built to help you do something about it before they do.

Rescue works automatically through the Grain Tag — no extra setup required. It monitors exit intent using predictive analysis: scroll patterns, mouse movement, engagement signals, and more. When it detects that a user is likely to bounce, it can trigger a banner, notification, or dialog to pull them back.

But exit intent is just one trigger. You can also fire Rescue based on specific events, time delays, or page loads — which makes it useful beyond bounce prevention. A well-timed message at checkout, for example, can turn a hesitant visitor into a conversion.

The rules are straightforward to configure, and because it runs through the Tag, there's no additional code to ship.

New Insight Cards

The Overview and Custom Views now include three new rule-based insight cards:

Revenue Risk surfaces accounts or segments showing signs of churn or downgrade — so you can act before it shows up in your MRR.

Top Growth Lever identifies the metric with the most upside relative to where you are now. A good answer to "where should we focus this week?"

Fastest Win This Week highlights the opportunity most likely to move a needle quickly, based on your current data. Not the biggest opportunity — the fastest one.

These cards sit alongside your other metrics and update automatically. No configuration needed.

Grain Tag 4.1.0

The Tag update that powers Grain Rescue also brings improved heat maps. If you're already running the Tag, updating gets you everything above. If you're not, now's a good time to start.

That's Grain 4.1. As always, we'd love to hear what you think — and what you'd like to see next.
